Five easy mini Perler bead patterns for your first time with mini beads: a rubber duck, a whale, a four-leaf clover, an acorn and a snail. They use 69 to 101 beads and no more than 4 colors each, with big blocks of color that are easy to fill with tweezers.

Perler Mini and Artkal C beads are about 2.6 mm across and Hama Mini beads about 2.5 mm, roughly half the size of regular 5 mm beads. The cards here list Perler Mini colors and codes.
Mini beads need mini pegboards. The pegs on a regular board are spaced for regular beads, so mini beads won’t stay put on them.
At this size, tweezers make picking up and placing beads much faster, and they stop you from knocking over a row you’ve already finished.
The same ironing paper and household iron you use for regular beads. Parchment paper works too.
Counting tiny pegs is the hard part of mini beads. An actual-size chart does the counting for you.
Open the Download menu on any card, tick “Actual bead size” and choose PDF. Each square on the page is exactly one mini bead wide.
Turn off “fit to page” in the print dialog, then measure the 5 cm ruler printed on the page to check the scale.
If your mini pegboard is clear, put the printed chart underneath and drop each bead onto the color that shows through.
Mini beads melt faster than regular ones. Use a slightly lower setting with the steam off and keep the iron moving in small circles.
Press for a few seconds at a time and peek under the paper. Stop when the beads are joined but the holes are still open.
Put a book on top while the piece cools so it stays flat and doesn’t curl at the edges.
Flip it and iron the other side lightly. Earrings and charms get handled a lot, so make sure every bead is fused.

Mini beads shrink a design to about half its regular size. The koi fish is 5.2 cm long in mini beads and 10 cm in regular beads.
