Perler bead Christmas ornaments

Ornaments are what most people make first, so this is the biggest set of Christmas Perler bead patterns on the page: seven ornaments, including two baubles, a teardrop, a string light, a star, a candy cane and a bell. Each uses 77 to 147 beads, and the baubles, the teardrop and the string light have a hanging loop built in. Make a set in matching colors for one branch, or tie them to presents.

How to turn a pattern into an ornament

Use a built-in loop

The baubles, the teardrop, the string light and the stocking have a loop with a hole in it. Thread a ribbon or fishing line through it after ironing.

Keep a bead hole open

Iron just until the beads fuse, so the holes stay open. Then thread fishing line through a bead near the top edge.

Glue on a ribbon

For a quick hanger, glue a loop of ribbon to the back. A grown-up should handle the hot glue gun.

Make a magnet or gift tag

Glue a magnet on the back for the fridge, or tie the piece to a present instead of a paper tag.

Make a Christmas QR code ornament

Here’s an ornament that does something: scan it with a phone and it opens a holiday playlist, a video greeting or a family photo album. It makes a memorable gift tag, too.

Pick a short link

A holiday playlist, a recorded video message, an online greeting card or a shared photo album. Short links make smaller codes, so the ornament fits one pegboard.

Make the pattern

Paste the link into our Perler bead QR code maker. It picks a layout that fits one 29 × 29 pegboard and scan-tests the code before you place a single bead.

Choose festive colors

Dark Green or Red can stand in for black, as long as the light beads stay white. The maker warns you if two colors are too close to scan.

Iron, test and hang

Iron both sides, scan it once more with your phone, then glue a ribbon loop to the back. Keep the white border: phone cameras need it to find the code.

Tips for Christmas bead projects

Stock up on the big three

Red, White and Dark Green beads do most of the work on this page. A tub of each lasts longer than a mixed tub.

Bead a batch, then iron

Fill several pegboards before you heat the iron. Ironing them one after another saves time when you’re making gifts for the whole class.

Mix and match

Combine pieces: put the star on top of the tree, glue the holly onto the stocking cuff, or string the ornaments into a garland.

Iron both sides

Iron the front, let it cool flat under a book, then flip it and iron the back. Ornaments get handled a lot, so fuse them well.

Not sure about heat and timing? Follow our step-by-step ironing guide.

Christmas Perler bead pattern FAQ

What can I make with Christmas Perler beads?

Tree ornaments, gift tags, fridge magnets, coasters, card toppers and garlands. Small pieces like the holly or the Santa hat are quick to make; the snowman and the wreath take a little longer.

How do I hang a Perler bead ornament?

Use a built-in loop (the baubles, the teardrop, the string light and the stocking have one), thread fishing line through an open bead hole near the top edge, or glue a ribbon loop to the back.

Which Christmas Perler bead pattern is easiest for kids?

The mini Christmas tree is the smallest, at 52 beads. The mini snowman, the Santa hat and the holly are quick too. Let kids place the beads and have a grown-up do the ironing.

How many beads do these Christmas patterns use?

Between 52 and 192 beads each, and 2490 to make all 20. Each card lists exactly how many of each color you need, so you can check your tubs before you start.

Which bead colors do I need for Christmas patterns?

Red, White and Dark Green are used the most. Altogether the 20 patterns use 21 Perler colors, and each card lists the exact colors it needs.

Can I make a Perler bead QR code ornament?

Yes. Make the pattern with our Perler bead QR code maker, which scan-tests it before you start. A short link fits on one 29 × 29 pegboard, and you can hang it like any other ornament.

Can I use Hama or Artkal beads instead?

Yes. Hama Midi and Artkal S beads are the same size as Perler beads. Open any pattern in the pattern maker and switch the bead brand to get matching color names and codes.

Are these Christmas patterns free?

Yes. Every pattern here is an original meltybit design, free to download and print for your own projects and gifts. No sign-up needed.
